KARACHI: An ongoing gun and grenade attack at the Pakistan Stock Exchange in Karachi has killed at least two civilians and injured three.
According to Geo News, Four militants had stormed the PSX building and opened indiscriminate fire in the early hours of Monday.
Police said three of the four militants have been killed while one remains inside the building. They added that the militants at first attacked the stock exchange with a grenade and then stormed the building.
A police officer and the security guard stationed outside the PSX building were among the wounded, with the injured being shifted to Civil Hospital. The surrounding areas have been sealed by police and Rangers personnel with the people inside the building being evacuated from the backdoor.
"An unfortunate incident took place at the Pakistan Stock Exchange," said eye witness Abid Ali Habib, Director Pakistan Stock Exchange. "They made their way from our parking area and opened fire on everyone."
He said that the militants had stormed the Railway Ground parking area and fired outside the ground of the PSX. Habib said that the firing by militants caused panic among the people in the building.
'Catch them alive'
Governer Sindh Imran Ismail tweeted that he has instructed the inspector general of police and security agencies to catch the militants alive.
"We shall protect Sindh at all costs," tweeted the governor while condemning the attack.
